quarantine renovations

"Okay I'm bored in the house and I'm in the house bored." That song has been on repeat in my head for the past month and I can't be the only one.

When COVID-19 first hit and self quarantine was the only option, I was insanely bored. I couldn't go for long walks through the aisles of TJ Maxx, I couldn't see my boyfriend or friends, and I just felt stuck. I felt insanely unproductive but had no motivation to do anything. I've spent more hours on TikTok than the average person ever should and I consumed enough pasta in a month to feed the entirety of Italy.

Eventually I decided enough is enough, I have to do something productive. That's when I decided to repaint and renovate my entire bedroom at 2 p.m. on a random Sunday afternoon with absolutely no prior experience or knowledge on what to do.

To get myself on the right track, I sat down and created a Pinterest board of everything I wanted my bedroom to be and more, all the way down to the specific paint color. (Did I mention my walls were pepto pink and forest green circa 2006? I was living an 8 year olds watermelon dream at the ripe age of 21.) The Bedroom Decor Pinterest board I created definitely made me feel like I was semi prepared for the Extreme Bedroom Makeover task I was about to begin.

After picking out the Sherwin Williams Light French Grey paint and ordering a white Pinched Pleat Comforter from Target, I felt like I had a solid base for the theme of my room. I then challenged myself to see how well I could decorate the rest of my room on a tight budget. I scored big in the Target Dollar Deals area when I found mini floating shelves in a two-pack for $5 and grey, pink, and white glass vases for $1 each! I also found a three-pack of 8x10 palm print posters for $1 which I put in black frames I snagged at the Dollar Tree. Looking at what I had gathered so far, I felt like it was time to splurge *a little* on some succulents. I found the cutest Hanging Planter at Target which I immediately fell in love with.

I'm keeping the base of the room as light and airy as possible with whites and greys while adding in accents of pale pink (vases/decorative pillows), green (succulents/palm prints), and black (frames/word blocks).

Stay tuned for photos of my completed room! For a sneak peek, check out the inspiration photos on my Pinterest board.
